Toadmin Team on Tour!

Tuesday was a big day for the Five Gates Lane Toad Patrol team, with Emma Hallewell and Emma Skeith spending the day spreading the word about toad safety and volunteering across Grantham.

The day started on a high with the Grantham Journal sharing our article, helping to raise awareness of the toad patrol and the important work taking place on Five Gates Lane during the migration season.

From there, it was straight into full toadmin mode. Posters were put up around the local area, conversations were had with residents, and plenty of questions about toads, migration, and how people can help were answered along the way.

The afternoon saw both Emmas head to the studios at Hive FM, where they recorded a segment with the Gingerbread Man for his show on Hive FM 97.2 FM. During the recording, they shared why the toad patrol exists, how the patrol works, and what drivers and volunteers can do to help keep common toads safe during the crossing season.

It was a brilliant opportunity to talk to potential volunteers, bust a few toad myths, and share just how much of a difference local people can make by giving a little time.

The segment will air on Friday from 6pm to 8pm, and we’re incredibly grateful to Hive FM for giving space to such an important local wildlife initiative.

A huge thank you to Emma Hallewell and Emma Skeith for a packed day of awareness-raising, community engagement, and championing toad safety from morning through to evening 🐸💚
