Volunteer

Everything you need to know about helping safely during migration season

Helping is simple and rewarding

Volunteers patrol Five Gates Lane on selected evenings during migration season. Patrols usually last one to two hours and take place after dusk.

No previous experience is needed.

What Volunteers Do

  • Watch for toads crossing the road
  • Help them cross safely using gloves and torches
  • Work in pairs or small groups
  • Follow simple safety guidance

Hi-vis clothing, guidance and support are provided.

Who Can Volunteer

Anyone comfortable being outdoors in the evening and following safety instructions. Even occasional help makes a difference.

Volunteers must be over 18 due to the 60mph speed limit on Five Gates Lane.
